What we build
Focused on decks, pergolas and the outdoor spaces that bring them together.
Custom Decks
Hardwood and composite decks designed for the Central Coast climate. Built to council standards with structural longevity in mind.
Pergolas
Freestanding and attached pergolas in timber or steel. Integrated lighting, fans and louvre roofing options available.
Outdoor Entertaining Areas
Your backyard, but make it the best area of the house. Decks, pergolas, screening and built-in seating that all just work together.
Timber vs composite decking
Salt air, summer sun and sandy feet are hard on a deck. Here's how the boards we build with most often stack up — honestly, from the tools-in-hand side of things.
Spotted gum
Our go-to hardwood. Dense, tough and naturally suited to bushfire areas (it's rated up to BAL-29). Expect 25+ years with an oil every 12 months or so. Mid-to-high price.
Merbau
Rich red-brown and very stable, so it's great near the water. It bleeds tannin early, so keep it off light pavers for the first few months. Mid-range price, oil yearly.
Blackbutt
Lighter, honey-coloured Aussie hardwood. Also bushfire friendly (up to BAL-29) and a touch cheaper than spotted gum. Needs regular oiling to stay looking fresh.
Composite (Trex / Millboard style)
Highest upfront cost, but close to zero maintenance — no oiling, no splinters, just a wash. 25–30 year warranties are common. Check the BAL rating on your chosen board if you're in a bushfire zone.
Not sure which suits your place? We'll bring samples to the site visit and talk you through cost, upkeep and your bushfire rating before you commit.
Our deck building process
- 1
Site visit & quote
We come out, measure up, chat about how you'll use the space and give you a clear, itemised quote.
- 2
Design & materials
We lock in the layout, heights, stairs and balustrades, and help you choose timber or composite.
- 3
Council / CDC approval (if required)
If your deck isn't exempt, we organise the plans and the CDC or DA paperwork for you.
- 4
Construction
Our own licensed carpenters build it — footings, frame, boards and finishes — with the site kept tidy.
- 5
Handover & warranty
We walk you through the finished deck, explain the care routine and back our work with a written warranty.
Deck approvals on the Central Coast
Plenty of decks don't need council approval at all. Under NSW exempt development rules, a small, low deck — generally up to 25m², no more than 1m above ground and set back at least 900mm from the side and rear boundaries — can usually go straight ahead. Go higher, bigger or closer to the boundary and you'll need a Complying Development Certificate (CDC) or a Development Application (DA). Bushfire-prone land adds another layer, with timber and construction methods matched to your BAL rating.
The good news: we handle all of it. We'll tell you at the site visit which path your deck falls under and look after the paperwork from there.
